Get to know.. Vicky Linley

Find out a little bit more about our newly promoted Head of Claims, Vicky Linley!

Vicky.. how long you have been in the industry?

I’ve been in the Insurance Industry for 36 years,  I started at General Accident and worked there for 16 years before moving to Profile Insurance Services in 2000 where I was the Claims and Personal Lines Manager.

How long have you been with IFM?

I’ve been with IFM since 2005 when IFM acquired Profile Insurance Services.

If you weren’t in insurance what would you like to do?

I’d like to be a Private Detective

Where you are from?

Born and bred in Sheffield.  I live in the South West of the City

Tell us about your typical weekend – pre lockdown of course!

Friday night is curry night (lockdown style at the moment).  Saturdays are usually coffee and cake somewhere in the morning, catching up with housework and shopping in the afternoon and either the pub or a film at home in the evening.  Sunday’s are usually lazy with a good walk somewhere and I always try to make sure all the family sit down together for a Sunday roast.

What are your hobbies?

I love making cakes for family and friends and baking generally.

What’s your favourite holiday location?

My favourite places I’ve been are Malaysia and Sri Lanka, but for sheer relaxation I love the Greek islands.. beautiful scenery, clear blue sea and the most laid back genuinely warm and welcoming locals.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Scallops with ginger and lime (but anything involving marzipan comes a close second).

What’s your favourite ice cream flavour?

Rum and raisin or pistachio

What type of music are you into?

Favourite band ever is Blondie,  but music generally depends on my mood, I love 70’s disco, most 80’s (including the cheesy stuff), heavy metal such as Metallica and AC/DC, Motorhead… there isn’t a lot I don’t like.  I love the fact that just hearing a song can take you straight back to a time and place.

What was the last TV show you binge-watched?

Your Honor – loved Brian Cranston in Breaking Bad and he was very good in this too.

What do you do on your commute to/from work?

I usually listen to my own playlists on Spotify coming into work so that it’s not interrupted by talking and then I have the radio on going home.

What’s the phone app you use most?

Photos and Spotify

What’s your favourite board game?

Trivial Pursuit

Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?

Ian McGaskill, the weatherman.  I haven’t met anyone really famous.. I happened to be walking along a landing at Royal Ascot when I was asked to wait while a rope barrier was put up and the Queen walked out of a room just 10 feet away if that counts.. couldn’t believe how tiny she is!

What’s the one thing that can instantly make your day better?

A bit of sunshine.

What would you change about yourself if you could?

I’d worry less about things I can’t change.

What would be the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery?

Faint!

Tell us something that people might not know about you.

I’m a Henderson’s Relish addict – I have never in my life not had a bottle in the cupboard!
